  • New Zealand's religion is the Church of Rugby. Not much could stir a nation more than an All Black win!! Hurray for the win over South Africa at the Tri Nations tonight (Australia/South Africa/New Zealand) - easily the three most anticipated teams in the upcoming World Cup!!

  • We are on school holidays at the moment (not a holiday for mom might I add!) and are enjoying our days downtown, at the theatre, museum, etc - and the odd day in pyjamas! School schedules are a bit different here: separated into 4 terms, there a number of 2 week breaks as opposed to the entire summer off. This one would be considered the winter break (although not very wintery...we have resorted to pasting  paper cut-out snowflakes on our windows!).

    Odds and ends….

    Our National (and free!) museum

Kyle and I can't get over the kms of wonderful waterfront here - views, galleries, pubs, etc...

    Getting my warrior Moko

Now I am a real Maori "Haka" boy!

  • Hmmm…time for a few updates…

We are all feeling a little under the weather this week, winter sicknesses are upon us…while we hit highs of 11-15C in the day, nighttime can drop to 3C (don't forget that is also the temp inside the house!!).

We had a great night celebrating Canada day with 30-40 Canadian Expats at a wine bar downtown (yes we have found a great babysitter - hooray! Symphony and gastronomic Wellington, here we come).

Wellington was jolted by a 6.5 mag earthquake this afternoon - eeeck, didn't like that - although it was a few hours north, that is enough of that thanks very much!

Kyle has stocked up on Fly fishing gear and I have joined the gym…. finally, some pictures of a little walk and a visit to the Zoo this week…

    Love the tongue

Blue Penguin at the zoo, although a common site on our shores - any of you keeping up with 'Happy Feet', our special visitor from the Antarctic (Emperor  Penguin)?

    Kiwi bird

This ain't the Toronto Zoo, you can actually see the animals here!

and touch them…the kangaroo ended up batting Grayson's hand

    Awww..who doesn't love wee babies
